  • Cyberpunk takes its name from the short story “cyberpunk” written by Bruce Bethke in 1983 for the Amazing Science Fiction Stories magazine. The Demyrished Man (1952), written by Alfred Bester and The Stars My Destination (1957), written by Philip K. Dick. (1968) – (Andoridler Electric Sheep Dreams), K.W. Dr.Adder, written by Jeter (written in 1972 but not published until 1984), Thomas Pynchon’s Gravity Rainbow (1973), John Brunner’s Shockwave Rider (1975), and True Names by Vernor Vinge (1981) are works containing strong themes and images of cyberpunk tactics in the named books. In the present day, Neal Stephenson’s Snow Crash (1992) is a work that carries the Cyberpunk period to the Post-Cyberpunk era.

  • In Cyberpunk, the minds of today’s authors are first William Gibson, Bruce Sterling, Pat Cadigan, Rudy Rucker, John Shirley and Lewis Shiner. Although W. Gibson is one of the main names, this is the first use of the term. Neuromancer was published in 1984 and later became the true representative of CyberPunk, completing the Sprawl Trilogy along with Count Zero and Mona Lisa Overdrive.


  • Although Cyberpunk has emerged in the field of literature, it has grown into a growing subculture and has even taken its place in the field of art, fashion and even philosophy.


  • Is Philip K. Dick’s Andoridler Electric Sheep Dreams in 1982? , And screened by Ridley Scott, is one of the cult films of Blade Runner cyberpunk, played by Harrison Ford in the lead role.


  • Films such as Matrix, Equilibrium, Robocop, Terminator, Mad Max in cinema are productions supporting this genre. To give you a few examples of cyberpunk dominated computer games; System Shock, Deus Ex, Metal Gear, Megami Tensei, Syndicate.
  • This kind of music also influenced. We can associate Kraftwerk, The Prodigy music groups with this genre.


  • Cyberpunk is used too much in manga and animations today. In particular, Ghost in the Shell may be a name we would like to say in terms of reflecting the fascinating main theme.
